Isotope Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry

: Overview and News

Welcome

We investigate the formation and evolution of the Earth and the Solar System using the chemical and isotopic information held in rocks, meteorites, the oceans and their sediments.

The Isotope Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry group encompasses three research teams that use fundamental chemical and isotopic techniques to understand natural processes on a range of temporal and spatial scales, including the formation of the Solar System and its planets and the evolution of the ocean chemistry and the weathering processes on Earth.

Our research areas

Formation of the Solar System and the planets

We investigate the origin and evolution of the Solar System and its planets with focus on our planet Earth.

Earth surface geochemistry

We focus on the characterisation of the processes involved in the evolution of the Earth’s surface.

Noble gas cosmo- and geochemistry

We study processes from stellar nucleosynthesis and the chemistry of the interstellar medium to planet formation.
